Turkey exports 229 thousand tons of hazelnuts

Exporting hazelnuts to some 90 countries, Turkish exporters shipped 229 thousand 627 tons of hazelnuts accounting for worth $1 billion 820 milion during the already-passed season which had started on September 1, 2011 and ended on August 31, 2012, according to the Union of Hazelnut Exporters of Back Sea Turkey, thus, gained worth $ 1.8 billion at the end of exporting 229 thousand tones of hazelnut in the hazelnut export season of 2011-2012.
The Standard natural kernel hazelnut’s quintal was traded by $771 in this season. 170 thousand 284 tons of the hazelnuts were exported to the European Countries, some 24 thousand to non-European countries, 2.7 thousand tons to the overseas countries and 13,7 thousand tons to other countries.
In the whole season of previous year, Turkey had exported 281 thousand 330 tons hazenuts, accounting for $ 1 bilion 784 milion. According to this end, Turkey’s hazelnut exports decreased by 18.38 percent in amount and increased 2.03 percent in value over the previous season,
