Tambrite folding box board has been providing industry-leading stiffness and bulk for over fifty years with its excellent printability, runnability, and robustness. Aqua+ is a new water-based dispersion coating that provides the necessary protection and food safety.

“Consumers have been clear in their wishes to use more circular packaging in their day-to-day lives. In Tambrite Aqua+, we are proud to be offering a renewable fiber-based packaging material that is designed for easy recycling,” says Sofia Hallbäck, Business Development Manager, Barrier Solutions at Stora Enso. “This solution proves that the requirements of packaging for frozen and chilled food, as well as the more demanding dry food, can be met using innovative new technology.”

Tambrite Aqua+ utilises a dispersion coating that helps to reduce the use of plastic that is increasingly subject to costs incurred by packagers, such as extended producer responsibility (EPR) fees. Tambrite Aqua+ is fluorochemical-free, resistant to grease and moisture, comes with the PAP21 logo that shows it is easily recyclable with normal paper and board waste streams.

More about Stora Enso’s Aqua coatings

Aqua dispersion coatings maximise the fiber yield from the material during recycling in the most efficient way possible. Dispersion enables more fibers to be recovered in the recycling process, compared to alternative barrier solutions. “By incorporating Aqua+ technology to Tambrite’s rich heritage and hard-earned reputation for packaging excellence, we are continuing our mission of replacing fossil-based materials with renewable products,” concludes Hallbäck.
