The journey of Meron started in 1982 when Mr. Kurian Jose Sr. launched a company specializing in the manufacturing of food grade Agar Agar (China grass) for the local market. Since then, they have focused on developing high quality products, and in 1989, their dedicated R&D team developed Bacteriological, Pharmaceutical and Plant Tissue Culture grade Agar Agar. They also added Spreadable type Agar Agar Wondergel & all grades of Carrageenan to serve a wider client base. They have further expanded their portfolio to include Plant Gel (Gellan Gum), Chitin Chitosan, Sodium Alginate in various grades, Xanthan Gum & Guar Gum.
Gradually, Meron increased its production capabilities to over 500 M.T per annum. Marine Hydrocolloids is now one of the market leaders in India in Agar Agar and other hydrocolloids such as Spreadable type Agar Wondergel, Plant gel (Gellan Gum), Agarose, etc.
