All Aspects Of Eggs Discussed at Egg Summit

Participated by about 400 producers and other supplying industry representatives, the summit was organized by Yum-Bir, the union of egg producers. In his opening speech, chairman of Yum-Bir, Derya Pala, said that the industry has already realized targets for 2023 in 2013.
Chairman Pala said, “We expect that exports in the 2013 will be over 400 million dollars from 16 million dollars level in 2005. The industry produced 16 billion eggs in 2012.”
Sahin Aydemir, chairman of the promotional committee for poultry industry, said that, the industry is the only food industry that its food safety chain has been controlled from farm to table.
Food value of egg has also been considered in the summit. Dietetic expert Dilara Kocak has pointed out the lack of consumption of egg, as it has been the most favorable source of protein by the people. She said, “It should be consumed by all age groups, because it both has high level of protein and has lower calories. It is perfect for all.”
Several presentations were made on the occasion of the summit. One of them was on the egg production and trade, moderated by Ulku Karakuş, chairman of the union of feed industrialists. Main topics of “Sustainable production” was discussed by experts from the industry, including the future of the industry, herds’ health and biosafety, productivity in poultry farms, and common diseases.
Managers from branded companies discussed about the brand equity and brand building in egg industry.
One of the technical presentations was on the recycling of wastes of poultry farms and information was given on obtaining energy and fertilize from bird extracts. The other was on the regulations on egg from production to consumption.
