Danone, which has gained a local dimension in addition to its global identity with its presence in the world for more than 100 years and in Türkiye for nearly 40 years, continues its investments with determination with its trust and reliance in Türkiye.

In line with this approach, Danone, which returns the gains it has achieved as a result of its successful activities in Türkiye to these lands in terms of investment and employment, has recently invested more than 450 million TL in its Lüleburgaz Production Facility and started the domestic production of medical nutrition products used in the treatment of malnutrition. With the latest investment, Danone Türkiye Lüleburgaz Production Facility became Danone’s first hybrid factory producing both dairy products and medical nutrition products.

Danone Medical Nutrition Products Facility was held with the participation of Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Minister of Industry and Technology, A. Burak Dağlıoğlu, President of the Presidential Investment Office, Cem Küçükcan, General Manager of Danone Turkey, and Vikram Agarwal, President of Danone Global Operations.

“Our goal is to increase our contribution to the Turkish economy and the sustainable value we create by doubling our contribution to the Turkish economy and increasing our exports by 3 times while increasing our production capacity by 50 per cent in 2 years.”

Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Minister of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Türkiye, said the following in his speech at the ceremony: “I proudly keep up with Danone’s investments that integrate with Türkiye’s dynamics and values and contribute to our country’s economy. Today, we are excited to announce another one of Danone’s investments. With this investment of 450 million TL, Danone has started domestic production of medical nutrition products used in the treatment of “malnutrition”. Malnutrition, which is generally defined as excessive, inadequate, or unbalanced nutrition, affects millions of people from children to adults. This critical investment made by Danone will contribute to the domestic production of medical nutrition products in our country. In addition, the medical nutrition portfolio produced in our country will be exported to the UK, Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic in addition to meeting the needs of the domestic market. This investment, which will continue to increase, will make a significant contribution to reducing the current account deficit in our country. The projects carried out for the localization of the raw materials used in the facility will create a high business volume. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the establishment of the Medical Nutrition Production Facility.”

Mr. A. Burak Dağlıoğlu, President of the Presidency Investment Office, said: “As the Presidency Investment Office, we welcome the production of medical nutrition products, which are important for the treatment of diseases related to malnutrition, in our country with this investment of Danone, which we have closely followed and supported since the beginning of the process. The localization of these high-value-added and special quality products, which are considered pharmaceuticals, and the fact that this facility will export to the surrounding countries as a regional production center is in line with the production targets of our country. We congratulate the Danone family for investing in the investment environment of our country these days when we celebrate the 100th anniversary of our republic with our investors in many capitals and frequently announce our “Invest in Türkiye” message. We would like to thank them for their partnership in our endeavor to make Türkiye’s century a century of investment with the vision of our President.”

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Cem Küçükcan, General Manager of Danone Türkiye, said: “I am very proud and happy that Danone, which is one of the most successful examples of the local presence of a global brand, continues to increase its investments with the trust and reliance it has in Turkey. As Danone Türkiye; with our 6 production facilities in Türkiye, our R&D center, and more than 2000 Danoneli working all over Türkiye, we bring our innovative product portfolio of over 20 brands and innovative products to consumers of all age groups. Today, we are embarking on a new journey to add value to Turkey in the fields of production, export, technology, and health by saying “With the Power of Türkiye, for Türkiye”. Beyond its economic value, this investment in our production campus in Lüleburgaz has special importance for regional development and our entire stakeholder ecosystem. With our domestic production in medical nutrition, we not only meet Türkiye’s needs but also export products to many countries, including Hungary, Slovakia, and the UK. We are taking firm steps towards becoming a production and export base in the field of medical nutrition. Our goal is to increase our contribution to the Turkish economy and the sustainable value we create by doubling our contribution to the Turkish economy and tripling our exports while increasing our production capacity by 50 percent within 2 years.”

Danone enriches national and regional development with domestic production

Taking an important step in the field of medical nutrition with its new production facility, Danone not only collaborates with many Turkish companies since the first step of the project but also adds value to Turkey and regional development by localizing the raw materials used in production. Thanks to the production process design used in this facility, which is a center where technology, employment, and innovation meet, Danone achieved 30 percent energy savings and aims to implement the same design in Danone’s other production facilities.
