Ahlstrom has officially inaugurated its new parchmentizer, PMZ5, at the company’s Saint-Séverin plant in France on May 21st. This state-of-the-art machine plays a key role in the parchmentization process, where cellulose-based paper is treated to produce durable, grease- and water-resistant vegetable parchment, making it ideal for use in demanding applications such as food packaging.
The EUR 15 million investment in PMZ5 highlights Ahlstrom’s ongoing commitment to sustainable innovation, collaboration with its customers, and strong ties to the local community that has supported the company for generations.
Helen Mets, President and CEO of Ahlstrom, expressed her enthusiasm during the inauguration: “For our colleagues in Saint-Séverin, this is a significant milestone in our journey. The investment reflects our continued belief in the growth of our portfolio of safe and sustainable solutions. This plant is exceptional, and its people are even better. We are committed to Saint-Séverin’s growth and are excited to see what the future holds.”
The new parchmentizer, PMZ5, is a result of Ahlstrom’s deep and ongoing collaboration with its global customers. With enhanced capacity and flexibility in parchment production, the new machine will help meet the evolving needs of the food packaging sector, ensuring Ahlstrom can continue to provide high-quality solutions to its customers.
This investment not only strengthens the Saint-Séverin plant but also contributes to the broader economic and social fabric of the Charente and Dordogne regions. Ahlstrom’s dedication to supporting local well-being is firmly anchored in the company’s 150-year history, ensuring that its growth benefits the health and prosperity of the communities in which it operates.
